Obituary for 

Mrs. Caroline Olubisi Alabi Akintunde

SUNRISE: AUGUST 3RD, 1954

SUNSET: OCTOBER 27TH, 2019

 

Mrs. Caroline Olubisi Alabi Akintunde was born to late Pa Samuel Agboola and Late Ma Felicia Atinuke Alabi in Oshogbo, Nigeria on Tuesday August 3rd, 1954.

Caroline Olubisi started her elementary school education at Saint Brigid in Ibadan, Nigeria and completed it at Saint Nicholas school at Otan Ayegbaju in Nigeria. She graduated from Bishop Phillips Academy in Ibadan where she first gave her life to Christ at the age of 16.

Caroline Olubisi started her higher education in Nursing after graduating from high school at General School of Nursing in Ilorin where she received her Nursing Diploma. She later went to Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesha, Nigeria where she got her Midwifery Diploma specializing in delivering babies.

As her love for God and passion for helping and caring for others grew, Caroline Olubisi furthered her Nursing education at Ahmadu Bello University [ABU] in Zaria, Nigeria. She met her husband in ABU during student Bible study group meetings.

 

Caroline Olubisi got married in 1982 to Akinsegun Akintunde and the marriage was blessed with two sons-Emmanuel Ibukun Akintunde and Jeremiah Ayobami Akintunde. 

Caroline Olubisi with her family travelled to the United States in 1986 to further their education at the University of Alabama in Auburn, Alabama. After graduation, the family first settled in Pennsylvania in 1993 before moving to Sayreville New Jersey in 1995 before finally settling down in Old Bridge New Jersey in 1998. 

Caroline Olubisi worked as a Registered Nurse at several hospitals including Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel, Madison Center and Rehabilitation in Matawan, Bayada Nurses Agency, Gentle Care Agency and finally at Visiting Nurses of America [VNA] in Red Bank before retiring.

Caroline Olubisi was a born-again Christian since the age of 16 and had lived a Christ-centered life with the embodiment of Godly virtues. Her strong Christian faith never wavered in the presence of any adversity but guided her decisions and path. She loved reading and studying the Bible. Her prayer life kept her standing solid on God’s goodness, faithfulness, mercy and grace in the face of adversities. 

Caroline Olubisi was an active member of Calvary Chapel in Old Bridge, where she unfailingly attended Church services, bible studies and Discipleship Home Group Bible study. She was involved in many church Ministries and her latest passion was in Medical Missions where she had undergone many Medical Mission trips to different countries to help the underserved and less privileged people by sharing the love of Christ while attending to their medical and physical needs.

Caroline Olubisi was an avid traveler, visiting friends, families or on Medical missions. She had visited Nicaragua, Jordan, Jericho, Israel [3 separate times], Australia, England, Ireland and numerous states in America. She enjoyed having a great time at family gatherings during wedding or birthday ceremonies. She loved to smile and put a smile on other people’s faces.

She will fondly be remembered by all for her selflessness, generosity, kind-heartedness, beautiful soul and smile, compassion and empathy with others. She was strong willed with soft determination. She had an amazing sense of pride and love for her family, and friends. 

Caroline Olubisi was pre-deceased by her daughter Sarah Temitope Akintunde in 1992 and her loving parents. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Dr. Akinsegun Akintunde, her two loving sons Emmanuel Ibukun Akintunde and Jeremiah Ayobami Akintunde, and many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and aunts.
